2010 Rolex 24 at Daytona - PAGID pads dominating again

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2010) In a race marked by unusual weather and a record number of lead changes, an upstart team challenged the establishment - and won. The No. 9 Action Express Porsche Riley prototype held off Chip Ganassi’s BMW powered Riley prototype by 52.3 seconds to win the 2010 Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona.

Cars equipped with PAGID RS pads finished on position 1 to10 which marked the 11th overall triumph at Daytona for a PAGID technical partner team.

All but one prototype team relied on PAGID RS endurance race pads and so did 75% of the GT class teams.

Mike Rockenfeller, Joao Barbosa, Terry Borcheller and Ryan Dalziel powered Action Express Racing to the 24 Hours of Daytona victory. The newly formed team avoided major mechanical problems and benefited from a late blunder by star-studded Chip Ganassi Racing to win the sports car endurance classic.

Lucas Luhr, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Richard Westbrook and Scott Tucker finished third, in another BMW Riley. A jammed seat belt early Sunday morning - resulting from a piece of tape - cost the team two laps, taking them out of the fight.

In the GT class, SpeedSource's "never give up" motto was evident in making up several positions during the latter stages of the race. No. 70 Mazda RX-8 co-drivers Sylvain Tremblay, Nick Ham, David Haskell and Jonathan Bomarito climbed back from a deep deficit to give the team its second Rolex 24 victory in three years.

The TRG Porsche GT3s, superior for most of the race, suffered setbacks in the final quarter. The No. 67 TRG Porsche GT3 and 2009 winner with drivers Joerg Bergmeister, Patrick Long, Johannes van Overbeek and Seth Neiman finished 2nd. Another TRG Porsche, the No. 66 co-driven by Wolf Henzler, Andy Lally, Patrick Flanagan, Ted Ballou, and Kelly Collins completed the podium.
